This Halloween was perfect. We started the evening off at one of Poppy’s best friends houses where we gathered with friends new and old. After a few drinks and a hearty dinner we headed out for a little trick-or-treating! My heart was bursting watching my little flamingo run up to the doors shouting “Trick-or-treat “and “HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!” with her little crew of friends. I didn’t take a ton of pics because I wanted to enjoy the moment….I now wish I had a few more but these will have to do.

Just thought I’d pop in and say hello and happy Friday! I promise I will get back into the groove of regular posts soon. I have a ton of pics from the past few months and a bunch of super yummy recipes to share…until then, please enjoy these pictures I just recently cleared off of my phone. I was running out of space and needed to make room for our road trip next week!

Hello again! Sorry for the silence over here but I needed a bit of a break to focus on “real life”. Poppy has grown so much in the past few months! Not just up up up but in so many other areas. I couldn’t be a prouder mama if I tried. Oh and did I mention she changed her name? Well she did. Her name is now Curious George the monkey. Please if you see her don’t even bother using her old name. She has only one friend who can’t seem to wrap his head around Poppy no longer going by the name Poppy annnnnd lets just say it has put a bit of a strain on their relationship.

Now for Easter-

This was such a magical Easter. George was SO excited for the bunny to come that she had a hard time getting to sleep. When she woke up she couldn’t wait to see if the Easter bunny had come! First Danie came over then we had to get dressed and put on some of her new barbie makeup; I got her a little case of it because she always wants to dig her fingers into mine. I have been trying to teach her that “less is more” but she is far too excited at the moment to listen. After she put on a not so modest amount of lip gloss on her cheeks we headed downstairs. On the giant chalk wall there was a message from the Easter Bunny himself!!! George made me read it a few times and then headed over to her little table to enjoy the tea party Mr Bunny had set up for her and Baby. He had left two cups filled with jelly beans and chocolates and two carrots. After munching on a few jelly beans and sipping on a cup of rice milk George got her hunt on. It was so much fun! Happy Easter!

These corny valentines were so much fun to make, not to mention super easy! If you are making them with toddlers you will have to do the glueing but if you have children ages 5 and up they should be able to do the whole thing with just a little help and guidance. Whatever age your child is just make sure to encourage them to get creative. Let their imagination lead the way. Be silly, and most of all have fun!

You will need:

• Dried cobs of corn. You can do this yourself, buy it or if you happen to be at a farm….grab some while you are there (that’s how we got ours)
• Acrylic paints, as many colours as you like
• Paint brush
• Glue gun
• Feathers
• Googly eyes, any size
• Heart sequins for the lips, or you can cut a heart shape out of red or pink felt, construction paper, fun foam etc. You choose!
• Colourful tape, string, fabric or construction paper to wrap around head
• White craft glue
• Glitter for the tip of the feathers
• Paper tag for CORNy valentine message
• Marker to write the message. I used a white paint marker
• Colourful yarn to attach message to the corn

Some fun extras:

• Pom Poms
• Lots of colourful glitters and sequins
• Yarn for hair
• Pipe cleaners for arms
