A few weeks ago I went to the Cayman islands for what I had hoped would be an amazing week full of laughter with the people I love most and a welcome escape from the crappy Canadian winter we were leaving behind. It was a beautiful week until the last day when I woke up at 4:00am in terrible pain. I waited until 6 and then broke down and woke the rest of the house up, informing them that our last day in the Caymans was not going to be spent shopping for souvenirs in Georgtown or cliff jumping at that beautiful beach, but that we were going to be spending it in the ER. I am not a suck when it comes to pain and I can now add child birth to the short list of super duper painful things I have had to experience in my life but this pain absolutely warranted a trip to Emerge. A whole lot of morphine and an ultrasound later it turned out that I had a kidney stone….or should I say one kidney stone that was on the move and about eight other kidney stones just hanging out in both my left and right kidneys. The Dr. gave me a bag of drugs to get me home and told me to go to my Dr. or the hospital as soon as I got home. I have now been home for a week and have been to Emergency 2 more times. I have a procedure scheduled on May 2nd to have the one rogue stone blasted to smithereens with sound waves ( Lithotripsy ). Until then I am on a pain patch and have a heavy arsenal of painkillers and other drugs to help get me through the next 11 days in as little pain and as few trips to the ER as possible. As for the 8 remaining stones I will have to get back to you as I have no clue what I am in for. In the end I had a wonderful time in the Caymans just a really baaaddd last day.
Comments and positivity are always welcomed, however I am currently not accepting complaints or criticisms.
